ROSE BRAUN . GRACEANN WARN

Sopa Fine Arts is thrilled to welcome Graceann Warn into the gallery this month, as well as unveiling the latest work from local artist, Rose Braun.

Sweet & Sour is all about balancing taste with an artistic vision. Using a light hand an artist might apply a stroke, scratch or buff, attempting to appease their aesthetic palette, while reconciling the merit of the work. Like a chef who experiments with flavours until he's finally ready to include a dish on his menu.  A perfect example is seeing how Braun's dual interest in figurative art and minimalism, meld effectively in 'Cake'.  While the artist is still storytelling in her new work, it feels pared down, almost poetic. Tales of twins — sugar & spice, are seen throughout. Combining the raw edge of the metal surface to set a harsh stage, she somehow manages to instil warmth through the innocence of her subject matter. Graceann Warn tells stories too. Her stories are multi-layered and complex. Assembling bits and pieces of found objects and collage, the artist takes ordinary things and with her refined vision, creates boxes of delight.  Delicacies for the soul. You may find drawing, collage, wax or simply paint, all used to great effect. You just might stumble upon the exact recipe to satisfy any sweet & sour visual cravings, in this exhibition.
