OCTOBER NEWSLETTER

With the leaves outside starting to turn, it’s a great time to introduce our current exhibition. Rose Braun has created work with warmly colored metallic trees as well as a new series depicting children, on her signature steel panels. This new work clearly shows us how her work has become more technical, with her often using pattern and repetition to help delineate other forms.

‘Continual Embodiment’ Opening…

Opening Night for ‘Continual Embodiment’

Jennifer Seymour has now settled into her new home on the Sunshine Coast. She has just sent us some new diptychs; we’ve already sold a few so make sure to let us know if you were waiting for her smaller, city series work. We only have a few of these stunning little pieces left.

COMING UP NEXT MONTH

November 1 st marks the opening night for our joint exhibition featuring the work of Martha Study and Cory Fuhr. Internationally, Martha’s mark on art and design is well known and we feel fortunate to be able to feature her newest work. She will be exhibiting her mixed media work on sleek steel panels. Cory Fuhr has also been busy creating a few new life-size human forms; these masterful, mechanical sculptures are gaining recognition all over North America. Curiosity over Cory’s new work has many people stopping by for a sneak peek but we haven’t seen anything yet!

Opening Night for this show should be quite exciting with both Martha and Cory in attendance. Nov 1 st from 7-9 pm.

Rose Braun with ‘Terra Matrix’ 24 x 36 on steel

Also showing in Continual Embodiment, Harry Gruenert’s vivid, color blocked paintings work beautifully with all the ridges and surface variations found in his art. He’s proven to be quite popular with our local collectors.

in The Studio

Sara McIntosh-Robichaud has moved with her husband to a rural home on Vancouver Island. She’s decided to pursue her Master’s degree while she’s enjoying a much larger studio space.

Melissa Stern – ceramic, mixed media

Melissa Stern has several new shows this fall, one opened on September 8 th, titled ‘Torn and pasted’. It’s a collage show in Woodstock NY, and the second opened Sept 15 th, titled ‘In the Garden’, an installation sculpture showing Philadelphia. She also has another show this month at ‘The Inner Circle’ - a group show at The Hunterdon Museum of Art, in New Jersey.

Martha Sturdy – 24 x 30 mixed media on steel

Currently, Martha Sturdy is working on some new public art projects, in addition to our upcoming show. One of them consists of two sculptures that will be placed outside the entrance of the Vancouver General Hospital, a 28 foot tall steel sculpture in the healing garden and a 3 piece resin light sculpture. Both pieces are planned to be installed by October of this year.

The second public art piece will be installed at the end of September in a very prominent roundabout in the village of Pemberton, as part of the Pemberton Sculpture Project.
